Start the following in class:
1. Begin learning by heart the eight (8) safety guidelines listed on the “Lab Safety Precautions“ handout. Be able to list the eight topics mentioned and be able describe the essence of each precaution in writing.
Recommended for those who have time left in their 45 minute study period, but not required of all:
1. Log into your Honors Chemistry section of Google Classroom.
- Click on this “How safe are we in the laboratory ” link. Note: Over this last summer Google has changed the teacher view of Google classroom and the student view to which I have no access. If the precise instructions given below no longer apply, please figure out what needs to be done based on what the instructions intend and let me know about the situation either by email or in class when we next meet.
- In the top right corner click on the three (3) vertical dots (More Actions) icon.
- Select “Open in a new window”
- At the top right of the new window click on the three (3) vertical dots (More Actions) icon.
- Click on the “Rename” menu choice, and rename the document in such a way that if Joe Lastname were
in section 07, the file name would be S07_Lastname_Joseph_How safe are we - At the top right of the new window click on the arrow pointing downward toward a line segment to download the document for editing in LibreOffice or Microsoft Word.
- After inserting your hand-in number and first and last names and completing the document to the best of your ability in the time you have available, save the file.
- Return to your chemistry Google Classroom section.Go to the description for this assignment.
- At the top right side of the assignment display, click on the “Open” button.
- At the bottom of the window that opens up, click on the “Upload” button, and then select and upload the file.
- Click the “Submit” button.
- Click on the “Mark the Assignment as Done” button, and then once again in the confirmation pop-up window.
Or to do the assignment in Google Docs:
- Click on this “How safe are we in the laboratory ” Google Docs link, the non-*.docx link
- Click on File > Make a Copy > and in the document title text box in the upper left and rename the file in sucha way that if Joe Student were in section 07, the file name would be S07_Lastname_Joseph_How safe are we
- Click on File > Share… > enter [email protected] into the text box > Done
- Insert your hand-in number and first and last names, and respond to the assignment questions to the best of your ability in the time you have available.
- If you wish a copy of the file on your computer’s “C” drive, download the file by selecting File > Download as > Microsoft Document (*.docx)
- Return to your chemistry Google Classroom section.
- Go to the description for this assignment and do the assignment.
- At the top right side of the assignment display, click on the “Open” button.
- At the bottom of the window that opens up, click on “Add” and then select the document from your Google Drive.
- Click the “Submit” button.
- Click on the “Mark the Assignment as Done” button, and then once again in the confirmation pop-up window.
