     When converting a measurement with one SI prefix to an equivalent measurement using a different SI prefix, why is it helpful to set up the first conversion factor with one unit of the measurement without any prefix in the numerator and with the equivalent quantity in the denominator expressed as a number of units using the first SI prefix?

3. Go to http://www.phschool.com/webcodes10/index.cfm?wcprefix=cda&wcsuffix=1030&area=view and take an online formative test for chapter 3, Scientific Measurement. Then click on the Score My Test button and study anything that you do not yet understand.

4.  Review for your chapter 3 test.

  • Open the flipcharts entitled Introductory ChemistryMeasurement in Science in the ActivInspire software program.  Study and review the ActivInspire flipcharts until you are sure that you understand all the concepts listed.
  • Study the class notes  you have taken, chapter vocabulary, the corrected journal responses that you have made, and this chapter’s documents and flipcharts.
  •  Review and study your notes, and your journal reflections. Study the Cornell notes that you took in and out of class.
  • Review anything that you previously corrected on the journal reflections, Chapter 3 Study Guides, Chapter 3 Section Reviews, other chapter 3 handouts, and the Chapter 3 Scientific Measurement[Formative]Test A and any other work sheets which you now have checked using green ink. Look up anything that you still don’t understand in your text, glossary, vocabulary study sheets, class notes, or come to help class if you need help.

Recommended for those who have time left in their 45 minute study period, but not required of all:

  • Review the meanings of the words on the chapter 1, chapter 2, chapter 3,chapter 4, chapter 5, chapter 6, and chapter 7 vocabulary lists. Place a – symbol in front of each word that you have to study more, and a change the – to a + symbol in front when you have demonstrated mastery over the word to a study buddy, parent, or friend.

  •  Study the Key Concepts given on pages 33, 57, and 95 of the text.
